how would you deal with the light?
angel still couldn't quite believe where she was. working on a tour was something the blonde had only ever dreamed of. sure, it wasn't all about being able to party with musicians and chill out all day. through some miracle, angel had actually managed to land a job. but even working merch wasn't so bad. all it consisted of was waiting around in a tent for fans to show up and buy things. of course angel had to make a little effort to actually be friendly, but that wasn't too hard. most of the time she just sat down on a chair she'd dragged over, enjoying being outside.
of course, the fact she was working alongside valentine made it even better. angel knew she wouldn't have even taken the job if she hadn't known valentine would be able to come with her. she'd never have been able to just leave him behind in boston. the two of them had been inseparable for years. angel wasn't about to abandon him now. and after all, spending entire days with her best friend in the merch tents sounded kind of fun. almost like an adventure. except they got paid, which was even better.
she had left valentine only about ten minutes ago at the tent, knowing he'd be able to hold down the fort while she went to grab something for the two of them to eat. she'd figured a big bunch of fries would do them both nicely as lunch. unfortunately for angel, the lines were still pretty long, despite it being mid afternoon. already she was worrying about val, hoping things didn't get too busy on him. angel knew he wasn't the best around strangers, but she was pleasantly surprised with how he'd been handling the tables since they started working. even so, she hated to leave him for long periods of time, and when she got to the front of the line, angel was in such a hurry that she almost forgot to ask for another couple of bottles of water. it wasn't too hot, but it would save her from having to run out to get more when either of them ran out.
taking care not to drop the hot food or the water bottles, angel weaved through the crowd, which seemed to have thickened since she last walked through them. she was glad everyone you know's table wasn't too far away from the food vendors, and swung in behind the table, putting the food down well away from the merch. the last thing angel needed was to spill sauce or water all over the band tees or something clumsy like that. once her hands were free, she turned to valentine, walking over to him and wrapping her arms around his waist. she held him like that for a minute, before loosening her grip and looking up at her tall friend. "food's up. sit down and eat, okay? you deserve a break." after speaking, angel fixed him with a smile. she honestly couldn't express how happy she was that he was here enough. in case he hesitated, angel nudged him slightly towards the chair at the back of the tent, letting valentine know she was more than happy to remain standing in case someone happened to wander past.
